🇹🇭 Thailand is preparing to launch TouristDigiPay, a sandbox program that allows foreign tourists to exchange crypto for Baht and pay through licensed e-money providers.
Users need to complete KYC, open an account at a digital asset enterprise and an e-wallet managed by the Bank of Thailand & SEC. The system will limit monthly spending and block cash withdrawals to control risks.
This move aims to stimulate the tourism industry, especially in the context of a 34% decrease in Chinese visitors in the first half of 2025. Officials hope that crypto will create a new experience to compete with Japan and Vietnam.
